As you may have read earlier I attended my first gig in two-and-a-half years over the weekend and initially the article went online on Saturday.

However It was used in Tuesday’s Courier and today’s Highland News so I thought I would share a few more of the shots from that day as well as the article.

It turns out that I will be helping out with more ents stories in the coming months so hopefully will get to a few more gigs in the future.

ORGANISERS were pleased with the numbers who turned out for this year’s The Gathering festival.

A total of 4000 tickets were sold this year compared with 6000 last year when the event’s usual spring outing was put back to September due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Highlights of the main stage line up on Saturday included Capercaillie and Inverness’s very own Elephant Sessions as headliners.

Organiser Dougie Brown was happy with ticket sales and delighted at the event’s return to the end of May.

“We are back in our normal time of year,” he said. “It’s come around sooner and, like everyone that works in the events industry, we are delighted to be back.”

Dave Barry is a regular visitor to the folk music celebration and travelled to Inverness all the way from Scarborough in North Yorkshire to be at the Northern Meeting Park. He said: “It’s the most intense Scottish experience that we’ve had. When I first came here four years ago it just blew my mind.”

Other bands featured on the main stage included: Skerryvore, Peatbog Faeries, Torridon and the City of Inverness Youth Pipe Band.
