I was covering calls on Thursday when a body was found on the beach at Nairn which is a few miles east of Inverness. My colleague Donald Wilson lives in the town, who works mainly on the Nairn edition, was at the scene and took these photos. And the police press office was very good at getting a statement back to me confirming that the body of a man had been found. The article did very well online and it was also used in the following day’s paper.

POLICE have confirmed that a body was found in Nairn yesterday morning.
The alarm was raised at 7.30am and police and coastguard were sent to the scene on Nairn West Beach.
An area from Marine Cottages and the promenade was cordoned off.
One witness said that detectives from CID were among the officers there.
He said there was at least one police car and seven officers from the coastguard at the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 7.30am on Thursday, July 21, police received a report that a body of a man had been found on the beach at Nairn at Marine Road.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
It is understood the person was an older man who had collapsed at the beach.
An ambulance was called but attempts to resuscitate him were sadly unsuccessful.
