When I first moved up to Inverness one of the events I photographed was a march for Scottish independence in the city in January 2020.
It was well attended but that is hardly surprising because the further you get away from Westminster the stronger the feeling is that Scotland should be making its own decisions rather than politicians based hundreds of miles away.
But then Covid-19 kicked in and everything was put hold for more than two years.
Fast forward to August 2022 and another protest march was arranged for the weekend. There was a good turnout – organisers said there were 3000 participants making it the biggest march this year.
There was a good atmosphere and the event, which was organised by All Under One Banner (AUOB), passed off without incident. Here is just a small selection of the shots from Saturday.
I am fairly sure the guy wearing the beret and carrying the Scottish flag was ex-military, but not sure of his regiment, and I do like the other guy’s hatband stating that he still hated Thatcher.
