It is good to be back after putting the blog posts on hold for a couple of months – basically I got sidetracked by a few things including going through my dad’s photos and a post for another site which I still have to finish but will probably also share here.

I have been enjoying some time off this week and also upgraded my camera – very much a spur of the moment decision. So I spent the past couple of days getting to know the new kit. And, trust me, there is nothing like a new toy to get the creative juices flowing again.

Yesterday’s highlight was a round trip around Loch Ness. The downside was that the journey south was spent mostly with the sun directly in my eyes but the journey back north was a completely new experience on the east side of the loch, as it was the first time I had driven the route, and it was worth the trip.

I first called in at the Falls Of Foyers and then headed north to Dores at the north end of the loch and the timing was perfect as the sun was about to disappear behind the hills – making for this perfect shot of the sunset.

Maybe one day I will get back to Boleskine House which was famously owned by Jimmy Page, the guitarist with Led Zeppelin, and Aleister Crowley the infamous occultist who was described as the wickedest man in the world by the British press.

It was when I reviewed the shots from the day and saw this pic and realised that getting the new kit was a good call and I am looking forward to taking more photos in the coming weeks.

The down side is that at this time of year the days are shorter and you lose the light around 4pm so the road trips are likely to be very much local.
