Following on from yesterday’s post I was quite pleased when I was minding my own business in Tesco today when I clocked the front page of today’s Westmorland Gazette and realised one of my photos from yesterday was staring back at me.
I cannot emphasise enough the buzz you get when you see your work in print – call me old fashioned, but I still have have printers’ ink coursing through my veins, but I do recognise that the industry needs to move into the digital age.
As I said yesterday Matt was a delight to work with and I thought the portrait shot outside of the tent might have made the front page but I reckon this photo shows that he was clearly enjoying his work in front of a crowd. And there was a decent spread of some of my pictures across pages six and seven in today’s paper.
As I said I did enjoy wandering around taking pictures and I did wander into the poultry tent. Because of the threat of bird flu there were no chickens this year but I did bump into egg judge Harry Caunce from Holmeswood near Southport.
I said that I did not envy his task in choosing the best eggs – I mean they all look the same to me. And I do like the close up of his hands and the eggs that he was focused on.
