Today I witnessed the launch of a general election campaign by the Labour candidate who is the prospective Parliamentary candidate for the Penrith & Solway constituency in the forthcoming general election.

I thought it might make an interesting photo project as he is hoping to follow in his father’s footsteps. Markus Campbell-Savours’ dad is Dale Norman Campbell-Savours who was the MP for Workington from 1979 to 2001 and later sat in the House of Lords.

But having said that I will also be covering election events of the other parties as and when they happen.

And Markus copied his father’s campaign techniques by resurrecting a soapbox, with attached speakers, which he describes as “old fashioned” but he felt it was important to be on the streets.

Also in attendance was David Allen, who is the Labour candidate for the role of Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner.
