Last weekend’s mis-adventure back to Scarborough was the first time I had revisited the seaside town since 2017. Bizarrely the last time I was there was also for Sci-Fi Scarborough 2017.
Basically during my time in Scarborough I got to know Steve Dickenson and covered a few stories with him between 2006 and 2012 before I left for Carlisle. Having said that he was one of the organisers of the annual Sci-Fi Scarborough event and, when I asked if I could photograph the occasion, he said I was always welcome.
In 2017 I was a bit cautious about photographing the invited guests, as they were charging to have their photos or rather “selfies”, taken but this year I was more bold and they were more than happy to oblige because I was working with the organisers.
I did send across the pics to Steve last night so I hope he received them okay (including a selection from 2017 which for whatever reason I never got around to sending).
Let’s just say it I do like Sci-Fi Scarborough, as it is smaller than the more mainstream sci-fi conventions, but it does tend to attract some interesting guests.
