Today’s post could have been, as Monty Python might say, ‘something completely different’. Basically it was suggested that members of the Ukrainian community might want to gather at Castlerigg Stone Circle near Keswick on the day after the spring vernal equinox to form a ring of hope around the stones.

It could have formed part of my new long term project on Ukrainians who have settled in the Carlisle area since the latest Russian invasion but unfortunately there did not seem to be much interest and it was just me and the stones as well as the other visitors who were at the site this afternoon.

I did get chatting to a guy who was there with his family who said he was a Pagan and was impressed by the energy of the site. I did ask what he did for a living and he said he was a hydrologist which led me to suspect his job involved water devining but he said that practice was ‘not that scientific’. Having said that there were a few offerings, which I am presuming were from fellow Pagans, left by the stones.

I have recently upgraded one of my Sony Alpha cameras for the latest model and it would appear that Castlerigg is a place where I give any new camera a test. And I do like the results so far especially the above shot with the kid clambering on the rocks. See below for more shots from today’s visit.
