I had some fun and games last year when Cumbria police started Operation Colossus which targeted antisocial behaviour and motoring offences across Cumbria when a biker on an illegal off-road motorcycle appeared right on cue to pull a wheelie for more than 100 yards on the wrong side of the road not once but three times.
It was originally intended to run for a few weeks but it proved so successful with residents and motorists that it was decided to continue into this year.
Today police were posted in London Road in Carlisle to stop vehicles at random to get them checked over and also run checks on the drivers using laptop computers.
I am expecting to get the raw data from today’s operation by first thing tomorrow but I thought I would share these shots tonight.

As well as London Road they were also posted to other locations in the city and recently they shared some results of a similar operation in Millom as I recall. Having said that there was nothing too exciting or out of the ordinary that happened in London Road but I am sure there will be other events to cover in the future. I will post a link to the News & Star article when it appears as I am planning to write it up tomorrow morning.
