Yesterday I saw my third amateur rugby league match, at Wath Brow Hornets’ Giel Park home ground in the Wath Brow area of Cleator Moor in west Cumbria, when they took on Wigan St Judes. And, while the home team won the last two home games, I think my days as their lucky charm have ended as they lost to the visitors 22-24 with a last minute try from the visitors.

Having said that I did get a nice sequence of shots featuring 17-year-old Conrad Dockwray getting his first try for the club and like the sequence I got during the last match it was almost right in front of me. They were a few more shots in the sequence this edit:

Having said that there was plenty of action on the pitch in a hard fought close match which the visitors snatched victory with a try which was literally in the very last minute of the game.

Needless to say I will do a final edit of the pics at some point and Wath Brow are due to play a home fixture next weekend but I am planning to cover Durham Miners Gala, which takes place on the same day, so I guess it will be a few weeks before my next match. But as usual the club was very accommodating in giving me access and I was made very welcome.
